Composer William Drew-Batty‘s Fire! Fire! is an original work created for the Festival. It is based on the Great Fire of Bungay which, in 1688 burnt most of Bungay town centre to the ground. This was over a century after Black Shuck’s devilish appearance in St. Mary’s church, so we can’t pin that one on him!
William has brought together a massive choir which, with St. Mary’s amazing acoustics, will fill the church with sound.
To open William has invited cellist William Bass who will be performing Bach’s Cello 2nd suite in D.Minor by candlelight, which will add to the atmosphere as the sun sinks in the sky on this magical summer’s day.
Drinks will be available from when the doors open at 7pm and during the interval.
