The Norfolk Folklore Society Presents: The Lost Folk, In Conversation with Lally Macbeth

August 3rd, 2025 18:00 at The Fisher Theatre.

Join the Norfolk Folklore Society’s Siofra and Stacia for a captivating conversation with artist, writer and folklorist Lally MacBeth, whose debut book The Lost Folk has fast become essential reading for anyone enchanted by Britain’s rich tapestry of customs, rituals and seasonal rites.

In The Lost Folk, Lally sets out to reclaim and re-enchant the folk traditions that have long shaped the rhythms of daily life. From the strange to the sacred, she explores customs that are vanishing or forgotten, reminding us that folk culture isn’t confined to the past, it is living, breathing, and waiting to be revived.

Based in Cornwall, Lally’s wide-ranging work as an artist and curator spans history, ritual, artifice and performance. She is the founder of The Folk Archive and co-founder of Stone Club, with contributions to Caught by the River, Hellebore, House and Garden and appearances on BBC Radio 3. Her work has been featured in programmes and events for the Tate, the British Museum, and the ICA.

Tickets: £8 from The Fisher Theatre here.
