What a journey we’ll have!
Our story will take us from the devastating scene of mayhem at St Mary’s Church, Bungay, where Shuck originally appeared, to Blythburgh church, where he left his hellish claw-marks on the ancient door. On the way he travels through Ilketshall St Andrew, where he is disturbed by the medieval wall painting of the Wheel of Fortune. He continues to Redisham, where the heart of summer’s harvest lies, then onward to Westhall and a link to the Plantagenet Kings. At Blyford the spirit of Queen Etheldreda haunts the marshes until, finally, he arrives at Blythburgh, where his dark past catches up with him leading to an unexpected end.
William, a St. Paul’s choir chorister in his youth and leader of the Bungay’s Community Choir, is bringing together a massive choir to perform in The Journey. Drawn from the community itself, this choir has never sung together before. And will not sing together until the day of the performance!
The choir will be supported by a 5-piece band drawn from a variety of musical backgrounds, from Snape to Ronnie Scott’s, and they will be joined by two soloists: the award-winning Dide Siemmond and tenor AJ Deane who comes from a musical theatre background.
This promises to be a really exciting performance which really draws on the talent and power of the creative community – one that tells Black Shuck’s story through a new lens, with a huge choir, a group of incredible musicians and an intriguing exploration of fascinating local myth and history
Tickets in advance only.
There is no interval, but drinks will be available before the performance when the doors open at 7pm.
Sorry – no dogs other than Black Shuck!
